Are you wondering what is going on in the Sarasota area this holiday season? Check out some of our favorite upcoming events coming in the next few weeks that will help you get into the holiday spirit! From boat parades to holiday shopping, there is somthing for everyone. Beginning this week there are plenty of fun and festive activities and events to keep you busy. These are just a few of our favorites!

Atomic Holiday BazaarThis funky holiday craft market is not to be missed! If you have never been then you MUST check it out. This is not your average craft show. Be sure to check out LOLABLUE, one of my favorite “go-to” vendors for earth friendly candles, soap and bath and beauty products.

A Taste of Chanukah. Join the fun at this wonderful music and food festival. Taking place at Phillipi Estates Park, this fest will have live music, kosher food, a 3 ton snow slide, live entertainment by Annaleise Nock and much more! Bring the family and enjoy this afternoon of festivities.

Selby Gardens “Lights in Bloom’ is a spectacular way to get in to the holiday spirit while enjoying the botanical surroundings. This year is the 19th year. The grounds are decorated with more than 2 milliion lights. Stroll the gorgeous grounds and enjoy the entertainment and sights! Food and beverages are available for purchase. This is a Sarasota Readers Choice favorite!

Fresh Fridays: Shop, Stroll, Sing 2! Now in its second season, the December 2nd Fresh Fridays event will be led by the talented and charismatic Brandon Wardell, a singer with Broadway credentials and a set of performing arts skills that will wow the holiday crowd. Shop. Stroll. Sing! will also have a forecast of “snow” and holiday karaoke to make the night a spark of joy to start the holiday season! Enjoy free holiday polaroid photos and giveaways.

Sarasota Boat Parade of Lights. Starting in 1986, The Annual Sarasota Holiday Boat Parade of Lights is a highlight of the holiday season, bringing out thousands of spectators who line the shores of Sarasota Bay from Centennial Park to Bayfront Park every year. For front row viewing consider making reservations at Marina Jack, where you can dine while you watch the festivities! Come check out the parade of boats beautifully decorated for the holidays on Sarasota Bay.   This annual event is presented by Suncoast Charities for Children and Marina Jack.  Admission is free and the best viewing is from Bayfront Park and Marina Jack. Reservations are required in advance for Marina Jack . Call 941-365-4232 to reserve your table now! Guests are encouraged to bring an unwrapped toy or book which will be distributed by Suncoast Charities for Children to The Florida Center for Early Childhood, The Haven, and Children First.

Siesta Key “Light up the Village” and Holiday parade. The parade will begin at Avenida del Mare and Beach Road at 5:30 PM traveling north on Beach Road onto Ocean Blvd. into the Village. Join in the fun and help welcome Santa to Siesta Village! Shops and restaurants will offer refreshments and special holiday bargains from 5 to 9 p.m. Santa will arrive at the Siesta Center immediately following the parade.Free photos may be taken with Santa. Gift bags provided by Beach Bazaar for the first 250 kids to visit Santa. Free public transportation will be available from Siesta Breeze Trolley from Turtle Beach to the Village with multiple stops along the route, including Siesta Key Beach.

The always fabulous, West Coast Black Theater Troupe presents “Langston Hughes’ Black Nativity” . The show is a celebration of the nativity story, with gospel, blues, spiritual and Christmas music paired with the poetry of Langston Hughes and the creativit of West Coast Black Theater Troupe. If you have never been to a WBTT performance, do yourself a favor and check it out!
