5th Annual Sarasota Police ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ School Supply Drive

Students in Sarasota return to school on August 10, 2022. The Sarasota Police Department, in partnership with the community, wants to ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ with new school supplies for the upcoming school year for the fifth year in a row before students head back to class.

The Sarasota Police Department is partnering with CoreSRQ, to accept school supplies beginning Wednesday, July 20, 2022, through Wednesday, August 3, 2022, for the fifth annual ‘Pack the Patrol Car.’

New school supplies can be dropped off from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. at two different locations or purchased online:

Sarasota Police Department, 2099 Adams Lane, Sarasota

CoreSRQ, 1075 South Euclid Avenue, Sarasota

Following the ‘Pack the Patrol Car’ school supply donation drive, members of the Sarasota Police Department will donate school supplies to students throughout the community before school begins on August 10th.

The Sarasota Police Department is accepting new school supplies for all ages and grade levels including backpacks, pencils, pens, highlighters, boxes of Kleenex, small bottles of hand sanitizer, folders, notebooks, glue, markers, crayons, erasers, and notebook paper. Members of the Sarasota Police Department will break down all donations by grade level before donating them to students.

Join the Conservation Foundation of the Gulf Coast for a monthly Food Truck Friday Night Series this summer at Bay Preserve!

This series is sponsored by: The Herald Tribune, Florida Power and Light, Sarasota Scene, TreeUmph!, Community Foundation of Sarasota County, Florida Native Plants Nursery, Lowe’s Home Improvement, Purmort & Martin Insurance Agency, and Sovereign Plastic Surgery.   

Enjoy food and fun with family and friends as you take in a beautiful summer sunset on the shore of Little Sarasota Bay. Each month different food trucks will join us for this free event. Attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket to sit on at this picnic-style gathering.

Join us for a community celebration, watch party, and mural unveiling in honor of historical baseball player Buck O’Neill! On Sunday, July 24, Join us for a community celebration, watch party, and mural unveiling in honor of historical baseball player Buck O’Neil!
O’Neil, who grew up in Newtown, lived through and told the stories of the desegregation of baseball, paving the way for many future players, coaches, and personnel within America’s pastime. Now, Buck’s mural will be a permanent fixture in Sarasota, signifying the long-lasting legacy he left. The event will feature free food, drinks, a watch party of the Induction Ceremony, and a community unveiling of RADD‘s new Gilbert Mural Initiative mural in honor of O’Neil. This mural is being painted by artist Matt McAllister and is supported by the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, DreamLarge, Newtown Alive, Baltimore Orioles, RADD, and the Sarasota African American Cultural Coalition.
